Joost Buis

Joost Buis is an improvising musician playing trombone and lap steel guitar. He is also a composer and arranger.
He has been part of the Amsterdam jazz- and improvised music scene since 1984 playing with many groups and projects, often in collaboration with theatre, dance, literature, opera, punkrock, new music, singer-songwriters, circus and world music (with Ethiopian and Indian musicians).
He has lead several groups of his own a.o. Buisband and Astronotes.
From 1983 to 1988 he studied Trombone and Theory of Music at the Arnhem Conservatory, and in 2000 he took lessons from master trombonist Roswell Rudd.
